Fig. 01 — how a roof actually works

We're the roofer that can draw the roof.

Most roofing websites show you a photo of a roof. Here's the part that matters — the assembly underneath, and what fails first when it's built wrong.

Hover or tap any layer. This is the same conversation we have standing on your roof with a core sample in hand — which is where most of our proposals actually start.

TPO / EPDM / PVC

The waterproofing layer everything else exists to protect. Seams are heat-welded on TPO and PVC, seam-taped on EPDM. Thickness and attachment are chosen from wind uplift zones, not habit.

Roof design, not just roofing

Our President and Vice President came up through the architectural and roof-consulting world.

Most roofers learn the roof from the top down. Ours learned it from the drawing out — which changes what happens before a single panel goes up.

  1. 01
The best roof fit for your building

We match the system to the building, how it's used and how long you plan to own it — the roof that fits, not the one that's easiest to sell.

  2. 02
Design-build and value engineering, without compromising performance

We work alongside the architect and general contractor to engineer cost out of a project without engineering the roof's performance out with it.

  3. 03
    Personally overseen, completed to specification

The people who helped design the roof are on the roof, making sure it is built the way it was specified.

Infrared, before and after

We look under the roof before we cover it. And after.

A drone-mounted infrared scan shows the moisture you can't see from the deck. Before a recover, it means we are not sealing a bad situation under a new membrane. After installation, it is how we prove the roof is watertight — not just finished.

  • Before a recover: no wet insulation hidden under new membrane
  • After installation: verified watertight, not just walked off
  • Scan imagery included in your close-out documentation

One roof. Six systems.

Every low-slope system we install, on the same building from the same camera. Step through it with the arrows — the roof surface is the only thing that changes.

Specifying a commercial roof is rarely a question about the building. It's a question about which membrane belongs on it — and what that choice costs you in service life, maintenance, and the morning something goes wrong. This is that decision, made visible.

Six systems. The right one depends on your building.

Contractors who install one system will tell you that system is best. We install all six, which means we get to be honest about the trade-offs — including the downside of each.

TPO Single-Ply

Thermoplastic polyolefin

We install all six. Which one belongs on your building depends on the deck, the exposure, the budget, and what your rooftop equipment puts on the membrane — not on what we happen to stock.

Water coming in right now?

Our story

It started at a
kitchen table.

Fort Wayne Roofing began in 1986 with a vision to build a roofing company centered on quality, strong relationships, and doing business the right way.

  1. 1986

It started at a kitchen table

Fort Wayne Roofing was created in Fort Wayne, Indiana with a simple vision: build a company people could trust, and grow it one relationship at a time.

Since 1986. We started at a kitchen table in Fort Wayne and have served the region continuously ever since. In 2018 we joined Tecta America, the nation's largest commercial roofing contractor, which added national resources without changing who answers the phone here.

It means local people, national backing. Your project is quoted, managed, and installed by the Fort Wayne team. Behind that team sit more than 100 Tecta locations and 4,500 roofing professionals — which matters most for large projects, regional storm events, warranty service on buildings outside Indiana, and cooperative purchasing contracts.

Fort Wayne and the surrounding region — Allen County and the counties around it, extending into Northwest Ohio. Fort Wayne, New Haven, Huntertown, Auburn, Columbia City, Huntington, Decatur, Bluffton, Kendallville, Angola, Warsaw, Wabash, Van Wert and Defiance are all inside our normal service radius.

Yes — we are back to it. We started out with residential crews, and residential was a primary focus for the first ten-plus years of the company. A previous administration refocused the business on commercial and industrial roofing, and that is where we stayed for about twenty years. We are taking residential on again across Fort Wayne and Allen County, with the same crews, safety standards and documentation practices we use on schools and manufacturing plants.

Commercial roofing runs on documentation, safety compliance, manufacturer certification, and warranty accountability — because our customers are facility managers and school boards who audit that paperwork. You get all of that on a residential job, from a company that has been in Fort Wayne since 1986 and isn't going anywhere after storm season.

Often it can be repaired, restored, or recovered — and we'll tell you that even though replacement is the bigger sale. We take core cuts and moisture readings to see whether the insulation below the membrane is dry. If it is, a coating or recover system can add ten to twenty years for a fraction of tear-off cost. If it's saturated, no surface treatment will save it.
